Roland Garros has existed as a tennis tournament in one form or another since 1981.   Also known as the "Internationaux de France tennis," the event has featured some of the greatest and most iconic players.  Since 1928, the competition is held in The Rolland Garros stadium, a mytical place which has welcomed the tennis elite since 1928, gave its name to the famous tournament. Originally, the Rolland Garros contest was reserved for French players only. Today the competition welcomes also international players in several categories, including men and women singles and doubles.
